Hunger & Poverty
Many families in our community live with incomes well below the poverty line. The poverty line is the minimum a household income should produce that would provide the basic needs. These households struggle every day to make ends meet. Imagine waking up every morning knowing that there is not enough food to feed your family and being overwhelmed with the impossible task of stretching an inadequate income to cover the rent, the bills and groceries. Food banks still only have the resources to supply only 3 days worth of food, we know many people who access a food bank have a greater need than 3 days.
81% of parents sacrifice their own food often or sometimes to feed their children.
