I want to keep you updated on what’s happening at our local food banks who serve 13,000 people per month.
As of today, March 17th, the emergency food network (food banks and hot meal programs) are still operating with COVID-19 safety precautions in place.
For Hamiltonians needing food; food banks have modified their service delivery according to the guidelines set out by public health. Client intake has been shortened, food is being prepackaged, meal programs are making prepared meals and handing them out. For more information on where to find a food bank, please click here.
We’ve seen changes in our community to the local supply chain but Hamilton Food Share’s commercial food donations are still being received and shipped. We are also still making large-scale food purchases from wholesalers.
To give us maximum flexibility to buy wholesale food to supply food banks across the city, we ask for you to please make a donation online or by calling our office at (905) 664-9065.
Stay safe and remember to check in on your neighbour or anyone you know who may be especially vulnerable. While there is uncertainty, this is a time to demonstrate how the Hammer takes care of one another.
Be safe and we’ll be touch.
