The arrival of the CP Holiday Train is a sure sign that we are in the festive season.
The Holiday Train will roll up to Lawrence Road behind Gage Park on Monday, November 28th. Scheduled to arrive at 7:45 pm, the 14 rail cars are decked out in hundreds of thousands of technology-leading LED lights.
At 8 pm, a boxcar with a traveling stage will up for a free concert with Canadian country music star Kelly Prescott and Juno Award winner Doc Walker.
This is the 18th year of the CP Holiday Train travelling across Canada. As with other years, this is also a food drive for Hamilton Food Share. People coming to Gage Park are invited to bring non-perishable food items or to make a cash donation to help feed hungry families in Hamilton. The Hamilton Food Share truck will be located in the parking lot off of Lawrence Road.
To help keep everyone warm, Kinsmen are once again ready to serve hot chocolate.
Those who capture the spirit of the train, holiday entertainment and the spirit of giving are encouraged to enter CP’s “Capture the Spirit” photo contest for the chance to win an exclusive ride on next year’s train. Further details about the contest will be available on the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train Facebook page.
In order to ensure public safety during the CP Holiday Train event, a section of Lawrence Road (from Gage Avenue to Ottawa Street) will be closed from 6:00 p.m. to approximately 9:00 p.m. During this road closure, there will be no access to and from the Gage Park parking lot.
